Types of Furniture Paneling

furniture panel

The various types of furniture paneling are based on the materials that are used to make them. You can choose from LP (r), SuperStruct (r), L-panel, Panton Wire, or EB panels. Here’s a brief overview of the different types of furniture panels available in the market. For more information about these types of materials, read on. Let us now begin the process of choosing a suitable furniture paneling material.

LP (r) SuperStruct (r)

LP SuperStruct Furniture Panels are engineered from OSB technology and are specially designed for the upholstered furniture industry. The panels are flat, uniform and free from knots and other natural defects. Because of this, LP SuperStruct panels are ideal alternatives to plywood for many furniture applications. Here are some advantages of LP SuperStruct panels:

EB panel

One of the major challenges faced by the wood panel industry is the supply of good quality logs. However, the Government has taken measures to help alleviate this situation by cutting the export tariff of logs to 30 percent by June 1998 and 15 percent by December 1999, a major reduction from the two hundred percent tariff set in 1997. This policy is expected to increase the supply of logs, as the wood processing industries are currently operating at 30 to 40% of their capacity. In addition, a large forest fire in 1997 reduced log supply.

Panton Wire

Montana Furniture offers a new type of shelving system featuring a versatile Panton Wire top panel. This versatile product turns a basic shelving module into a side table or a lamp. Available in different sizes and materials, the top panel provides a unique finish to steel wire shelves. L-panel

L-panel is an ideal material for light-duty and non-load-bearing applications. Various applications include furniture, packaging, and door and window frames. This panel is characterized by its strength and dimensional stability. Its crosswise oriented veneers increase the transverse strength. In addition to being lightweight and strong, L-panel is also easy to work with. Its advantages make it the ideal choice for many light-duty applications.

EB HPL

The benefits of HPL are many, but perhaps none is as important as its low cost. HPL is an engineered decorative furniture surface that originally was made famous by the Formica Corporation. HPL is sold in rigid sheets that must be glued to particleboard. HPL is composed of sixty to seventy percent paper and is typically made of several layers of kraft paper that is saturated with phenolic resin. It is then covered with a protective wear layer, and sometimes contains metallic inclusions.
